Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for Congress. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. Mitchell traveled with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions to summits and debate issues such as that of the Iran Contra controversy.
